Auction for Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders |
Donating Items For The Auction I will accept donations of more or less anything until just before the auction ends. If you do have anything you would like to donate, please let me know by contacting me here. It can be tiny or enormous, big or small, artwork, promises of fiction, food, beauty products, photos, autographs, books, comics or whatever else you can imagine or want to get rid of ;) I would be grateful if you could also send a small text description of the item and any photos, if applicable or available. As in previous years, there will be a cut off point for donations however I will probably still carry on accepting small items (or anything uncomplicated description-wise) until 48 hours or so before the auction closes, if your imagination suddenly strikes or you win the lottery :) Once the auction has ended, I will notify anyone donating an item as soon as I have received notification that it has been paid for and will then put you in contact with the lucky person who won. It is then up to you to sort out getting the item to them, including any postal charges, if applicable. If there are to be costs for postage, please make sure you mention any charges or any exclusions to free postage when you send details of the item to me to be listed. If you are not willing to pay for postage at all or only to certain areas or countries then please make sure this is clearly stated to avoid confusion and trouble further down the line. If you can try and give a rough idea of the costs, if there are any, then so much the better! It is up to you to negociate payment of these with the winner directly but please be fair. I don't think anyone wants to find they have been stuck with an astronomical bill for postage after they have won their much treasured and desired item that you kindly offered up :) Donating Money Of course you do not have to bid on or donate an item to take part! You can make a simple monetary donation of anything from £2 (GBP) upwards to MSF / DWB directly via the Justgiving site. Please feel free to leave a little comment, such as a birthday wish, so I can collate these and post them somewhere where David might be able to see them. And, if you are a UK tax payer, don't forget to claim Gift Aid as well! We managed to increase the total collected by over another £115 in 2009 through this. In the past, anyone making a purely monetary donation (i.e. a non-bid winning donation) of £5.00 or more received a free CD of photographs I had take at conventions that would not appear on the web for over 6 months (in fact I have still to put any of these up on my website since the beginning of the auction!). Due to problems with these CDs getting lost or damaged in the post, things will change this year and anyone purely donating £5.00 or more will receive a secure, password-protected link to the photographs instead. These digital photographs will be free for you to download for your own personal (non-commercial) use. The link will be kept open for three months and the earliest the photos will appear anywhere on the 'net after that will be at least another three months. All photos will be large enough to print, if you so wish, and will be a selection from those I took at Wolf Events' Stargate Worlds and Massive Events' Chevron 7.3 and Chevron 7.4 (with bonus photos from Starfury's
The Cylon Attack). Actors who appeared at these conventions were David Hewlett, Paul McGillion, Torri Higginson, David Blue, Gary Chalk, Rainbow Francks, Corin Nemec, Brian J. Smith, Ryan Robbins, James Callis, Morena Baccarin, Jamie Bamber, Leah Cairns, Sean Maher and others.
If anyone has any questions, queries or concerns regarding anything on this, then please do let me know and I will get back to you as soon as I can.
