Auction for Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders |
Thank you for taking the time to visit.
David has often urged his fans not to send him gifts but to donate to his favourite charity, Medecins Sans Frontieres / Doctors Without Borders, instead. So to help this along, I thought I would set up a fan auction for MSF/DWB in celebration of his birthday and, hopefully, fans would be able to celebrate alongside with him. The first auction took place in April 2007 and together we raised over £1000 (GBP) for MSF / DWB (taking into account Gift Aid from UK taxpayers).
The auction is now over for this year! Thank you very much to every who donated, promoted, bid, won, lost, listened to me moan 'n' groan and who were part of my cheering squad! You all deserve a big round of applause! Once the final total is in, I will put up a 'Thank You' page this year.
Down to business, some of you (and I don't why it is just some of you) will have received multiple copies of Winning Notification e-mails. All I can do is apologise. The automated system is simply dreadful! Unfortunately I am also getting multiple copies of everything so this means that once I hit over 500 within 60 minutes, my e-mail gets blocked for an hour so I cannot contact anyone. Just bear with me as I will get to you sooner or later and either invoice you or thank you for any payment already made.
Suffice to say, I will NOT be using the same software next year! I hope the, generally minor, glitches have not put anyone off from participating again and will be seeking feedback, as last year, from you all in a couple of weeks.
It's still not too late to donate something! The Justgiving site (to be used for payment of anything won) will remain open for a while yet and you can make just a simply monetary donation to MSF/DWB through that. All 'pure' donations of GBP 5 or more (that are non-bid winning) will receive a free CD of photos I took at Wolf's Pegasus 3 Stargate Atlantis convention held in London in January 2008. Guests were Dean Marshall (Sgt Bates), Andee Frizzell (Wraith Queens/the Keeper), Kavan Smith (Maj Evan Lorne), Paul McGillion (Dr Carson Beckett) and Torri Higginson (Dr Elizabeth Weir). Some of my photos from this event can be found on my convention photos website, but I have kept some of the best for the CD. Each will have a minimum of 60 photos and these will not be put on-line for at least 6 months and will be larger than those found on my website (in case you want to print any off for your own personal use). Postage and packing to anywhere in the world will also be included, plus another little surprise*.
If you would like to see exactly how much money was raised in 2007, please click here .
Please do keep looking back here for the total. I hope to be able to release at least a preliminary total on 13th April. Thank you once again,
Hazel / the4ts
